Grivel Awarded 2016 Compasso d'Oro

Climbing equipment manufacturer Grivel Mont Blanc was recently awarded the 2016 Compass d'Oro for innovative and quality industrial design. The honor is only given out once every three years, and is known as one of the most prestigious international design awards.

Grivel received the award for its innovative twin gate carabiner. The twin gate series of carabiners takes climbing safety to a whole new level, making it almost impossible for the carabiner to accidentally come unclipped.

Upon receiving the award, Gioachino Gobbi, the inventor and designer of the Twin Gate said In 2018 Grivel will be 200 years old, therefore I’m very proud to receive this prize which is not only a clear recognition of the great engagement of the entire company today but an homage to the previous generations who, while working in much harder and discomfortable situations have been able to invent those pieces of equipment that allowed numerous “giants” such as Valter Bonatti…Riccardo Cassin…Toni Gobbi…to reach and conquer the highest summits of the world

3 Grivel Products Featured in Gripped Buyer's Guide

The latest issue of Gripped Magazine featured 3 Grivel products in its annual Buyer's Guide. Pick up the April/May issue of Gripped to read the full reviews.

Clepsydra Twin Gate

The Clepsydra Twin Gate carabiner features the safety of twin gate technology, and also adds an internal wire-gate that attached the carabiner to the belay loop and prevents cross-loading.

Salamander Helmet

Grivel's Salamander helmet provides protection for rock, alpine, and ice climbing. The helmet is extremely light (13.6 ounces), and although it only comes in one size, offers an extremely customizable fit.

Shield

The Shield harness accessory from Grivel takes climbing harness comfort to a whole new level. The rubber shield plate attaches to the harness with velcro and helps the energy that is generally concentrated in one small area during a fall, thus preventing both pain and injury.

Grivel uses the Web-Core manufacturing process to make their harnesses. A broad, yet thin and light piece of webbing which is laser cut to match the harness' shape and is laminated--at a high temperature--to both the interior and exterior of the harness. This webbing, which is the same size as the comfort parts, assures optimal pressure distribution to greatly reduce the pressure points where the body is in contact with the harness. The benefit of this innovation is that it creates a thinner and more compact harness while increasing comfort. Check them out on LibertyMountain.com:
