The Evolution of a Classic - Grivel G10 Crampon

The Grivel G10 crampon was recently featured in the 2013 Climbing Magazine Spring Gear Guide and the May 2013 issue of Backpacker Magazine. For being a long-standing classic in the crampon world, The G10 has received some new updates to keep it at the head of the pack.

The Grivel G10 is a lightweight, universal crampon. It is designed to meet the classical demands of general mountaineering. It is perfect for ski touring, trekking, glacier travel, and for women and children (whose small boots don't require many points underneath them). The G10 is completely adjustable by hand and is a one-size-fits-all crampon.

The G10 now features the new Moletta fit adjustment system. The cutting edge design of the Moletta spring-pin keeps it completely locked down by the heal of the boot and cannot inadvertently lift up while in use.

Another new feature to the G10 is the clear-coat finish on the chromoly steel construction. The clear-coat finish prevents corrosion and extends the live of the crampon.

In addition, the toe and heel bails were redesigned to fit a wider range of boots shapes. With various changes that modern alpine boots have undergone, the newly designed bails are going to provide a more proper fit for any type of boot. The G10 is available with three different binding options: New-Matic, New-Classic, and Wide New-Classic. Both front and rear plastic bails are hinged from their respective retention posts and may be "opened" to facilitate attachment to the boot, then closed securely once the boot is inside. The single strap closure system makes it a simple task to secure the crampon onto the boot.

As a popular standard for this crampon, the G10 includes the world's only active-anti-balling system called the Antibott. The Antibott actively clears away snow from the bottom of the crampon with each step for maximum traction and security. The Antibott is patented by Grivel.
